You are cordially invited to the public launch of Heaven and Earth; the Methodist Modern Art Collection in Wrexham. Wrexham is to host what has been described as ‘the best denominational collection of modern art outside the Vatican’. For ten weeks between 19th January and 26th March forty works – including works by Graham Sutherland, Elisabeth Frink, Ceri Richards and many other renowned artists – will be on display across two venues; Wrexham Methodist Church in Regent Street and the Oriel Sycharth Gallery at Glyndŵr University. During the exhibition there will be a series of related events, tours, talks and workshops which are free to attend and open to all members of the public.The launch event will feature music from the University and Community Choirs, and the exhibition will be officially opened by Ceri Richards’ daughter Rhiannon and Mel Gooding a leading art expert and author who knew Ceri Richards well. The event will include the launch by author Sarah Middleton, Freelance Arts Manager and Trustee of the Collection, of the new publication ‘The Methodist Modern Art Collection in Wales’. The event will start at the University at 4pm before continuing to the Church for 6pm and is open to all.
